Biography
Joachim Monkelbaan is Senior Fellow in the Climate & Sustainability Department at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies And Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He works on the interlinkages between energy, climate change, competitiveness, and trade & investment. Previously, he worked with organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD), Climate-KIC, and the World Economic Forum (WEF). Dr. Monkelbaan obtained his PhD in governance for sustainable development from the University of Geneva. He also holds graduate degrees in international law and economics and obtained a Specialization in Finance & Accounting from Harvard Business School.
