Biography
Curriculum Vitae - Samuel Zita

I have 13+ years of professional experience in international trade and private sector development policies and projects. My main career objective is to provide evidence-based policy advice and technical assistance to Least Developed Countries and Developing Countries.

On international trade, my areas of work include policy formulation, negotiations and implementation of bilateral, regional and multilateral agreements. My experience includes the provision of backstop technical support to government officials during regional trade negotiating sessions (COMESA FTA and ESA-EC Economic Partnership Agreement), drafting policy briefs, papers and notes and facilitating training and sensitization workshops to various stakeholders. I have also (a) provided technical assistance in the contexts of the Tripartite FTA (COMESA-SADC-EAC) i.e. market access offers and requests, the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the SADC-EU Economic Partnership Agreement i.e. challenges and opportunities for fisheries and aquaculture exports; (b) co-drafted export strategies; (c) worked on Aid for Trade issues i.e. Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF); (d) supported policy review teams and (f) supported government and private institutions to implement the WTO's Trade Facilitation Agreement.

On private sector development and development in general my areas of work are (a) design, management, monitoring and evaluation of programs/projects funded by Development Partners, (b) technical support to firms to elaborate trade and industrial strategies and (c) analysis of Doing Business issues including the monetization of the impact of trade-related reforms (SPS measures and Single Windows) for private and public sectors.

Currently, I'm working on two projects: (a) identification of fisheries policies for sustainable private sector development in Mozambique, and (b) the Sustainability Impact Assessment of the Accession of Angola into the SADC-EU Economic Partnership Agreement.

Until now, I have worked in 18+ projects. Countries of experience: Mozambique, Angola and Comoros.

One of my professional ambitions at the moment is to strengthen my quantitative analytical skills especially on CGE modelling particularly to estimate/analyse the impact of tariffs and non-tariff measures across sectors and industries.
