"Does theory matters in Global CGE models "
by Bchir, Mohamed Hedi

Abstract
The theoretical foundations of CGE models are more and more discussed and some times questioned.
In this paper we will revisit the theoretical foundation by testing different closures and specifications. We will develop different versions of the MIRAGE model and test some liberalization scenarios in order to compare the results obtained by each one of these version.
The paper will be structured as follow: After an introduction that will gives an overall idea of the problematic and the main policy implications of results obtained by global models, we will give a survey of the global models that are used now and their main structural differences and sum-up the different results that are giving. In the second part of the paper we will present the different hypothesis and closures that we will implement in the MIRAGE model. In the third part we will present our simulation scenarios. The forth part will be dedicated to the presentation and the discussion of the results. In the fifth part we will conclude.
