"Climate policy in Western Europe to 2020 and avoided costs of air pollution control"
by Rive, Nathan

Abstract
Using a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model, this paper assesses the co-benefit of reduced point-source SO2, NOx, and PM2.5 emissions due to region-wide climate policy in Western Europe to 2020. A number of novel amendments have been made to incorporate air pollution emissions and control into a standard CGE framework. The methods may be relevant to researchers in related integrated modeling fields, and the results may also be of interest to policymakers seeking an integrated approach to environmental policy design. Our results may help identify the technical feasibility and costs of simultaneously achieving local and global environmental goals, the trade-off between undertaking carbon abatement domestically and purchasing credits from abroad.
