"PREFERENTIAL TRADE AGREEMENTS BETWEEN CENTRAL AFRICAN AND EUROPEAN UNION: STUMBLING OR BUILDING BLOCKS? A GENERAL EQUILIBRIUM APPROACH"
by Ngeleza, Guyslain

Abstract
This paper seizes upon the opportunities present in the African countries data in the most recent GTAP database to simulate the two opposing views describing regional preferential agreements either as building blocks for, or stumbling blocks to, further trade liberalization. The focus of this study is the free trade agreement between Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC+) and European Union (EU). Results show that while a regional trade agreement may slightly raise welfare among the members of the agreement, the cost for the non-members can be high.

Key words: Doha agenda, trade policy, Computable general equilibrium model
