"Macroeconomic Policies and Poverty Impacts: Case Studies of Ethiopia and Ghana"
by Evans, H. David and Niyati Ghelani

Abstract
This paper is in three parts. The first part outlines a new approach to estimating the distribution and poverty impacts of macroeconomic policies and projections. The second part of the paper is quantitative and illustrates the methodology for Ethiopia based on the macroeconomic policies and projections in IMF (2010a) which are “soft-linked” to a distribution and poverty Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model for Ethiopia. The third part of the paper explores the scaling-up of the Gleneagles Initiative for aid to Ethiopia obtained from Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model which are “soft-linked” to the Ethiopia distribution and poverty model for estimating impact effects.
