"GTAP Book - Essential Programs"

Abstract
This relates to programs referred to in Sections I and II of Chapter 6 of
the GTAP book. You will need these programs to carry out the examples
in Parts A, B, C and D of the Hands-on Document.

The programs supplied originally (1994) no longer run on modern Windows PCs.

We now supply programs from Release 8.0 (October 2002) of GEMPACK which you can use to carry out the same tasks.

Please follow the installation instructions below, rather those in Sections I and II of Chapter 6 of the GTAP book.

Installation instructions

1. Make a new directory C:\GTAPBOOK

2. Download TP1010.ZIP (see below) and unzip the files into C:\GTAPBOOK

3. You also need the GEMPACK programs Gempie, Gemsim, SeeHAR, Tablo, ModHAR, Sagem and Sltoht. You can use those supplied with the Demonstration Version of Release 8.0 of GEMPACK.

Either

(a) download DM_CD.EXE (see below) and put it into a temporary directory (for example, C:\TEMP). Then run DM_CD.EXE and install the programs in C:\GTAPBOOK, or

(b) download the separate files
DMDISK.EXE, DMISK2.ZIP to DMSDISK6.ZIP (see below) and put these into a temporary directory (for example, C:\TEMP). Then unzip the files in DMDISK2.ZIP to DMSISK6.ZIP Then run the program DMDISK.EXE and install the programs in C:\GTAPBOOK
