"EVALUATION OF TRADE IN THE G-77 ON THE PRISM OF SOUTH-SOUTH COOPERATION"
by Lopes Afonso, Damares, Fernando Perobelli and Suzana Quinet Bastos

Abstract
This paper investigates the regional impacts of trade integration in the Group of 77 (G-77) through the GTAP (Global Trade Analysis Project) global general equilibrium model. The analyzes are based on the tariff reduction agreement signed at the conclusion of the third round of negotiations of the General System of Trade Preferences (GSTP). The results indicate that the interregional trade integration of the G-77 intensifies production and exports in the industrial sectors of the Asian regions, to the detriment of the African, Latin American and Caribbean regions. The presence of China in the tariff reduction agreements reinforces the decline in industrial activity and the increase of primary production in the African, Latin American and Caribbean regions, however intraregional integration is crucial for the industrial and technological advance of these regions.
