"Updating the Partial Equilibrium Module to GTAP 7 Model"
by Aguiar, Angel, Erwin Corong and Dominique van der Mensbrugghe

Abstract
This paper describes the modifications to the standard GTAP model for the hybrid GTAP with partial equilibrium, also referred to as the GTAP-PE model. A key feature of the analysis is to take one of GTAP's aggregated commodities and disaggregate that commodity at the HS6 level or some aggregation thereof. For example, the motor vehicle and parts (MVH) sector in GTAP, can be split into a set of more dis-aggregated commodities at the HS6 level that defines the sector. This allows for capturing more nuances on the trade side if tariffs are highly differentiated across the components—for example, tariffs may be relatively low on intermediate goods (such as parts), but higher on final (or assembled) goods. The work described herein is motivated by the original concept developed in Narayanan et al. (2010b) and Narayanan et al.(2010a). It differs in that it uses GTAP model version 7 and automates the workflow process, which facilitates its use and reduces the possibility of unintended errors.
