"Chapter 8BE: Zimbabwe" by Davies, Rob and Dirk van Seventer Abstract This chapter documents the construction of an Input-Output Table (IOT) for Zimbabwe, 2017. The IOT is structured to be consistent with GTAP IOTs, so that it can be included in the GTAP database. Although the aim is a GTAP-consistent IOT, we begin by constructing a Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) since the data sources are problematic, as discussed below. The greater consistency requirements of SAMs, particularly between incomes and expenditure, provides more internal validation of the data. We then derive the IOT from this SAM. The base year, 2017, was selected to be consistent with other data in GTAP. |
