"Representation of fuel usage in general equilibrium modeling" by Chen, Y.-H. Henry and Jonathan Siegle Abstract In computable general equilibrium (CGE) analysis, the values of all commodities including fuels are represented in monetary units. This suggests that for a multi-energy-input sector, under a given output level, inter-fuel substitution under carbon pricing can inadvertently change the energy use levels in physical units and therefore unintentionally contribute to alteration of the underlying energy efficiency. However, a significant change in energy efficiency implied by inter-fuel substitution is unlikely to happen. In this study, we consider an approach to address the issue in a CGE modeling framework. |
