"An Information Theoretic Approach to Estimating Matrices of Economic Data"
by McDonald, Scott and Sherman Robinson

Abstract
At the heart of all quantitative analyses of economic systems, be it macroeconomic or
microeconomic whole economy models, are found estimates of national accounts. All national accounts data are point estimates subject to sampling and measurement errors because, in large part, they are the products of underdetermined estimation problems. In this paper a method by which underdetermined economic estimation problems can be transformed into ill-posed problems is presented and evaluated.
