"Analysis of AfCFTA Impacts on Agri-Food Sub-Sectors and Food Security in Cote d’Ivoire"
by Diallo, Souleymane Sadio, LAWSON SIPOAKA Assion, NECHIFOR Victor, SIMOLA Antti, BOYSEN Ole and FERRARI Emanuele

Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to quantify the impact of the implementation of the AfCFTA on the agri-food sub-sectors and food security in Côte d'Ivoire. To this end, it combines a dynamic computable general equilibrium model and a microsimulation model, calibrated respectively with a disaggregated social accounting matrix of the Ivorian economy and the 2021-2022 harmonized household living conditions survey. The results indicate that implementation of the AfCFTA will have a positive impact on Côte d'Ivoire's economic growth and foreign trade. However, tariff dismantling will result in lower customs revenues, with a negative impact on public finances. On the other hand, the increase in agri-food imports, the improvement in agricultural production and the decrease in consumer prices will help to reduce food poverty and improve household well-being.
