"Computational General Equilibrium Model with Maritime Route Choice: application in the case of Suez Canal route and Arctic Shipping"
by Tran, Trang and Ryuichi Shibasaki

Abstract
While most world trade is transported by sea, their operation heavily depends on a few maritime choke points. A local shock at these choke points could significantly impact international trade. This paper aims to build a model quantifying these impacts by incorporating the route selection for sea transportation into the GTAP standard model. The route choice parameters are estimated from shipment data. The model is then applied to evaluate the effects of increasing the Suez Canal route price. The results highlight some interesting general equilibrium effects of a local maritime route shock.
