Abstract
The Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and India have engaged in protracted negotiations toward a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), with the long-term objective of establishing a comprehensive Free Trade Area (FTA). Despite significant growth in bilateral trade over the past two decades, empirical evidence on the potential economy-wide impacts of such an agreement remains limited and largely outdated. This study employs a Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) approach using the standard GTAP model to evaluate the economic effects of a potential SACU-India FTA.
