Biography
Wafa Aidi is an Economic Affairs Officer within the Regional Integration and Trade Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). She was granted the grade of Doctor in Economics from both University of Tunis and Toulon. She also has a master in forecasting business cycles and financial markets from the Higher Institute of Management (Tunis).
Prior to joining UNECA, Wafa has been a researcher within the Higher Institute of Management of Tunis for several years. She also was visiting scholar in the Graduate Institute of Geneva, Center for Trade and Economic Integration. She has developed solid research abilities in empirical analysis and she is keen on statistical data processing and gained hands-on experience in applied econometrics.
Her research focuses on the social and economic implications of the Covid-19, issues linked to sustainable development, remittances, investment, regional integration index and complementarity between finance and trade integration and has been recognized by refereed international journals such as Journal of Business & Economics, Journal of Economic Integration, Economic Modelling, and Canadian Journal of Development Studies.
