"Impacts of EU Agricultural and Trade Policies on West Africa: The Cases of Poultry and Dairy"
by Zamani, Omid and Janine Pelikan

Abstract
This analysis presents preliminary results and hypotheses regarding the impact of EU agri-food trade policies on West African countries. In this line, Senegal and Ghana are selected as focus regions. Due to the importance of partnership agreements between the EU and West Africa, we investigate the impacts of the EU/ECOWAS agreement on the agri-food sectors of Ghana and Senegal individually. Therefore, we apply the GTAP-based MAGNET-Model (Modular Applied GeNeral Equilibrium Tool). Building on a baseline over the next 10 years we run separate policy scenarios and implement the ECOWAS agreement step by step. The results show how the exports in the EU will develop in the next years and the importance of the ECOWAS agreement for West African countries.
