"Evaluation of climate impacts using a global multiregional computable general equilibrium model combined with regional and sector specific damage functions" by Kim, Yong-Gun, Jongwoo Moon, In Chang Hwang, Jonghyun Yoo and Gyeowoon Jeong Abstract This study develops a global dynamic recursive CGE model, named UNICON-Impact, and incorporates climate impacts and damage functions of the Climate Framework for Uncertainty, Negotiation and Distribution (FUND) for the evaluation of impacts of climate change on global and individual/sectoral markets. The model result shows that the global economic impacts of climate change evaluated via the multi-region multi-sector CGE model linked with FUND are less than the sum of sectoral bottom-up estimates. The distribution of impacts, however, could be more unevenly divided among regions and sectors, which indicates the necessity of international cooperation to support more vulnerable regions and sectors through financial and technological transfers. The model provides comprehensive impacts from climate change, adding the non-market value of climate damages not incorporated in CGE module by separate estimation module. |
