Curriculum Vitae - Ibukun Beecroft
Beecroft is a Doctoral Student, an Assistant Lecturer and ardent Researcher in the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Covenant University, Nigeria. She desires to add value to a world class organization, whilst maximizing every opportunity for learning, success and growth. She holds a B.Sc. in Economics from Covenant University and an M.Sc. in Finance and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, United Kingdom. She is versatile and constantly seeks avenues that will allow further development of the knowledge she gained during degree studies, work experience and volunteer opportunities. This is why before joining Covenant University for her doctoral studies; she worked with the Office for National Statistics, London, United Kingdom as well as with Zenith International Bank, Lagos, Nigeria. She has won various research and travel grants to conduct economic research, some of which include: Free Trade Versus Protectionism in Africa: The Unending Contradiction, 2012 (with Osabuohien, E. and Efobi, U.), funded by the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), United Kingdom, in collaboration with Global Trade Alert (GTA) and African Centre for Economic Transformation (ACET), Ghana; UNU-WIDER Conference on L2C-Learning to Compete: Industrial Development and Policy in Africa, Helsinki, Finland, 2013, amongst others. Her research paper (with two others) also won first place in the FLACSO-WTO Chairs Award, 2012. She has served as a reviewer for the Journal of Environment, Development and Sustainability. Her main teaching areas are Mathematical Economics, Applied Statistics, Introductory Econometrics and Introductory Microeconomics. Her research interests include: Political Economy, Fiscal and International Economics, and Economic Development. She has participated in conferences and workshops within and outside Nigeria.
