Biography
Curriculum Vitae - Emiliano Lopez Barrera
Emiliano's work focuses on understanding how future patterns of global food consumption will affect human health, and how the agricultural changes needed to support the ongoing global nutrition transition will affect the environment. A growing global population combined with changes in consumption patterns are placing unprecedented levels of stress on the planet’s natural resources. By combining econometric tools with economic and nutrition modeling, his research explores the linkages among diets, human health and environmental sustainability; providing inputs in how to meet the nutritional requirements for the world’s growing population while ensuring environmental sustainability over the coming decades. Before starting his Ph.D. in Purdue University, he was working as a Foreign Direct Investment consultant in the Interamerican Development Bank in Uruguay.
