"Modular source code for GTAP version 7 models" by Corong, Erwin Abstract The standard GTAP model (Hertel, 1997; Corong et al., 2017) provides a common platform that facilitates development of different modeling extensions. These GTAP model extensions, which can be used to examine issues related to environment, energy, poverty, migration, value chains and others (e.g., GTAP-E, Power, AEZ, GMig, MRIO, Domestic Margins) either bring in new theory or use GTAP satellite Data Bases that have recently become available. Although many of these extensions are documented and accessible online, up-to-date model codes are often difficult to find. The importance of latter is highlighted with the revision of the standard GTAP model with version 7.0 (Corong et al., 2017) replacing the previous version 6.2. This paper provides documentation for a modular source code that covers the standard GTAP model and extensions produced by the GTAP Center. This is the first attempt to create a modular source code for all GTAP models for ease of update, code management and online accessibility. This paper also presents a utility that can be used by GTAP researchers to generate their chosen GTAP model version 7 TABLO code (i.e., standard or any extension) along with a standard closure (CMF) file associated with their generated model. |
