Biography
Jean-Marc Burniaux is currently on leave from the Economic Department of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

His work at the OECD mainly involved developing world dynamic, multi-regional and multi-sectoral Applied General Equilibrium (AGE) models used to assess the macro-economic impacts of designed policies.

He built the WALRAS model that was used by the OECD to assess the macro-economic consequences of agricultural policies in OECD countries.

More recently, he was responsible for the design, specification and implementation of the GREEN model used by the OECD to simulate various international agreements aimed to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases that are suspected to be responsible of the warming of the earth climate.

Jean-Marc Burniaux holds a Ph.D in Agricultural Economics from the Free University of Brussels. Beside macro-economic modeling, his expertise also involves more policy-oriented analysis of transition economies - including corporate governance aspects such as bankruptcy legislations - and analysis of the determinants of rising inequalities and poverty in OECD countries.

While visiting GTAP, Burniaux's interest will be to develop the economy-environment linkages in the GTAP model.
