Biography
Lionel Fontagné is Professor of economics in the Paris School of Economics, University Paris-1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He is also a Scientific advisor to the Centre d’Etudes Prospectives et d’Informations Internationales (CEPII, Paris). In 2007, he was awarded the Research Fellowship of GTAP.

He has been the director of the CEPII from March 2000 to June 2006. In this position, he has launched the research projects leading to the MIRAGE model, as well as the MAcMap and BACI databases. He also took the initiative of joining the GTAP consortium and to provide new protection data to the GTAP community.

He has formerly been a member of the Conseil d'Analyse Economique (Council of Economic Analysis to the French Prime Minister), a Part-time Professor at the European University Institute (Florence, Italy), a Supply Professor at the Free University of Brussels and a Professor at the University of Nantes, as well as a consultant for the International Trade Center (UNCTAD-WTO, Geneva), the Bank of France, the OECD Development Centre, the OECD Directorate for Science Technology and Industry, to the World bank, the Ministry of Finance of the Luxembourg, and the French Ministry of Finance.

He has written numerous studies on international trade and integration issues. He is currently working on trade policy issues within the CEPII team. Offshoring, outsourcing and the economics of the deindustrialization, competitiveness, sanitary and technical barriers to trade are currently on his research agenda. Previous work has addressed the relationships between trade and FDI, tax competition, intra-industry trade, optimal currency areas and the evaluation of the Single market program.
